The Gardens Originals
If you’ve spent any time on the site you will notice Glenn, from the Gardens of Castle Rock, and I work together frequently. So when Glenn started talking about building special items for the Gardens, it was a no brainer– I wanted to help out. The wood came from an 1880’s granary Glenn salvaged from his uncle’s farm, as you’ll see in the photos below, the wood was beautiful. As I started trimming the reclaimed lumber to size, 130 years of weather and grime gave way to radiant, glowing, yellow-orange fir, and it smelled phenomenal. Handling the 10-12 foot long, true 1×12″, and 2×4″ boards within the shop was a challenge in and of itself, but the biggest challenge was preserving the weathered texture, while getting the smoothed surfaces I needed for joinery.
You’ll see the first table of this series below, I will keep this gallery updated as we progress through the line up.
