Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 - In Dundas, and Northfield, Minnesota
Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 - Dundas and Northfield, Minnesota
Not the usual woodworking fare, but a once in a lifetime opportunity to see the newly restored Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 steam engine actually on the rails and under its own power, is not something to pass up.
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike, creating the Transcontinental Railroad, Union Pacific under took a five year restoration of just one Big Boy steam locomotive. The Big Boy locomotives are the largest ever built, weighing in at 1.25 million pounds, and stretching a whopping 135 feet.
It is currently on a tour of the American Midwest, and I was able to view it in entering Dundas, and leaving Northfield, Minnesota.
You should also check out Glenn Switzers video documenting the trip as well, which I helped shoot video and photos for as well.
