Tractor Logging

This isn't the usual Workshop Wednesday, I'm doing something a little different today.

We are still hard at work recovering from the tornado that devastated our forest last September, I'm sure it will be years before it doesn't feel like we're living in a war zone.

A big part of that recovery is being able to remove and repurpose the trees that were damaged by the storm. Now the logs aren't worth much to a logger or industrial sawmill, but they are gold to a woodworker like me, who happens to have a chainsaw mill. I'll be working in Red Oak for the rest of my life....

The secret to our ability to recover, and reuse these trees is our tractor. We don't have any other fancy equipment, just a solid John Deere 2020, a log chain, and a couple of grapples.
